Giving Thanks

Hi Folks,

When presented with the idea of gratitude giveaways for my blog followers, by Kathy over at I am a Reader, Not a Writer, I jumped on it. After all, where would a blogger be without readers? It's true that blogging is cathartic and helps to organize ones thoughts but seriously, would we continue to blog if no one read or commented? I'd like to think so, but I'd really rather not find out.

That being said, you are one of the things for which I'm thankful this year.  I pray that this year has been a year of celebration for each and every one of you. Celebration, you ask? Yes...celebration, just another way of saying thankfulness.  I studied the Celebration of Discipline for Bible School this year and one of the disciplines is celebration.

You never realize how easily you can slide into being joyless, ungrateful, pessimisstic, depressed, envious, lazy, and a host of other faults just because you fail to appreciate the here and now. Fail to appreciate and be thankful for what you do have. Fail to recognize that although you're not where you want to be, you're definitely not where you used to be.  Fail to realize that every hardship or arbitrary circumstance of life is an opportunity to stretch your faith muscles.

I am thankful for having studied this book.  It has reminded me that just as words created the universe the words I speak with conviction, have the power to create my universe.  So I must be careful to speak life and not death into my circumstance.  Celebration or praise, if you will, is the answer for every situation and something I encourage you to try along with me for the upcoming year.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the fact that as the holidays approach, many suffer heavily with depression and/or suicidal thoughts and many deaths occur around the holidays.  I would encourage you all to be vigilant in monitoring those within your personal sphere of influence.  A smile, a prayer, a hello or a how can I help can go a long way to save a life.  My site geared towards abuse, domestic violence, suicide and mental health has been ported to my deeswhite.com domain and is being redesigned and reorganized.  It is due to roll out the week of Thanksgiving.  You may take a sneak peek HERE.

Now onto the fun stuff, the contest!

oh, must be a follower before the giveaway, so not for new followers?

Nope sorry. I structured it that way in order to be fair to those who had been following all along.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that next year you will be an old follower.

I entered without realizing you had to be a follower before the contest. With 175 blogs to hop--it's hard to read all of the details! :-)
